"Comparison is the thief of joy."

A dear friend found this on Pinterest and it finally made sense.

Women often have a hard time celebrating each other and their success' because we are all too often comparing ourselves.

And, with each comparisson we are slowly taking away the joy in life.

"Comparison is the thief of joy."

Bad habits are hard to break, trust me, I know!

But, in attempt to lead a more authentic and fullfilling life I thought I would show  my "behind-the-scenes" just so you know that everyone has them.

I know that through blogs and facebook I can appear to have it all together {my highlight reel}, but please know that the following this the true story.

I am a far cry from having it all together.

Yes, this is my living room cluttered to boot.

And, my table, also cluttered to boot.

Ah, the laundry room.
*note: the basket on the left is actually clean clothes I have yet to put away.

And, as all of my best friends know, I can't put a shoe away to save my life.

There you have it, a small snippet of  my behind-the-scenes.

Women are far too valuable to compare.

Let's stop comparing and celebrate each other's highlight reels.

What do you say?

  1. Hi there, I found your blog from a link on Katie T's and just have to comment on this post. I LOVE IT. I think we (especially moms) spend so much time comparing -- and as much as I love Pinterest and Facebook -- these sites especially make us feel like we have so much to do, so much to keep up with, etc. They definitely are "highlight reels," and we have to keep that in mind. Thanks for the refreshing quotes and honest pictures!

  2. awesome post. thanks for keeping it real!

  3. I love you just the same, but I have an even bigger smile on my face :)

  4. I would say Amen sister but instead I'll say Amen daughter. Nice post...keep on keepin' it real! Love you.

  5. Loved this post!! Thanks for sharing!

  6. This is amazing!!! It is so annoying/sad that we are so hard on ourselves.. My most amazing aha moment was walking into a friends house.. a friend that I thought was perfect and never had a hair out of place. She let me walk into her guest room and it was a disaster. I almost cried and was so thankful for what she did for me that day. You are awesome for sharing this and I'll have to do the same :) Great Blog, can't wait to read more.

  7. Yes, yes, yes! I too leave clean laundry around in a basket! You are so cute and sweet to have visited me. Thank you for inviting me over! How adorable is your blog! And yes, comparison is the thief of joy! I have to pray for contentment when my life gets out of balance! Thank you for this post! So true!

  8. Oh, and your music makes me happy! I just could stay here and read all day!

  9. I'm following you too : ) What a great post. I struggle with this as we all do. It can be so hard to stop comparing! Blogs are filled with wonderful inspiration but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't get jealous of all those highlight reels from time to time! Thanks for showing your reality and cheers to celebrating one another in 2012!

  10. I am currently writing a post on this same topic, and ran across your blog looking for images to use for it. I love your post, and love that you shared your chaos versus your highlight reel. It is really something I have been battling with lately and am so glad to see I am not the only one! Thanks for sharing..I look forward to reading more of your blog!
