Fast and Furious

We are two weeks into summer, and it has been fast and furious. Our days have been filled with swimming, canoeing, bike riding, soccer ball kicking and baseball playing.

For my introverted, down time loving self it has been exhausting, yet so heart filling. While I am anti-fill up our schedules with wall-to-wallsportsactivitiesfriendsandnonstopmovement, I daresay I am starting to find joy in the busy.

Last night, as we sat at playoff game #2 of the week I was thankful. Gibson was in his glory tearing up the baseball field, Elliott was playing his usual pick-up game of baseball with any sibling who was up for a game, and Finley was being her usual three year old self...and life was good.

I am going to take that good and store it in my pocket for the rest of the summer when my blood pressure is rising, my kids are bickering and exhaustion is creeping in .

Here's hoping I can remember which pocket I put it in.

Summer is here, and as summer days always do, they are flying by.
 Here is my attempt to make the most out the glorious days spent filled with sunshine and warmth.

Every now and then...

Every now and then there comes a time when you have to shed your grown-up image. A time when you have to set your pride aside, deny all logic and ignore a life long supply of common sense. 

Every now and then there comes a time when you do something you were too afraid to try as a kid, but now, want nothing more than to conquer.

Every now and then there comes a time.....

....when you try over and over and over again to do a front flip while pretending you are the daring 7 year old you never had the courage to be.

Every now and then there comes a time when you look like this....

...in front of your family and closest friends, and you don't mind that...

 {a} you look this way, and

 {b} there is hysterical laughter each time you don't quite make a full rotation.

Every now and then there comes a time when you let go of all reservation, fail miserably while doing so, and still smile at the end of the day, because for first time in a long time that you swam like you were a kid again.
