a special Christmas

This Christmas was one that Steve and I were looking forward to with much excitement. It would be Elliott's first Christmas, and it would be the first Christmas that Gibson would truly understand. We had no idea how awesome it would be.

The anticipation of Christmas was just about all that Gibson could handle. He wrote a note to Santa, searched the weekly ads for new Christmas ideas, put out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for his reindeer.

The bright lights and pretty ornaments on the Christmas tree were just about all that Elliott could handle. Elliott spent most of the holiday season being steered away from the Christmas tree. After many, many attempts at the tree we finally gave in and just let him explore.

Chrismas morning finally arrived with mom and dad expecting the usual 5:30 am wake-up call. The boys actually slept in. After Gibson finally woke up he made his way down stairs, saw the presents and said, "Hey, Bumpa and Yia Yia forgot to open some presents." Too sweet.

Opening presents took a long time. With Gibson playing with each present throughly after their unveiling, the pace was slow. So slow that Elliott actually took an uncharacteristic two hour nap only to wake up to find Gibson still opening presents.

It was an unforgetable morning. Steve and I both found ourselves taking a step back to look at the scene taking place in our living room. We watched in awe at times unbeliving that this is our house. Filled with so many blessings we cannot even wrap our minds around. We watched hoping to absorb every wonderful moment and remember it forever.
