PSA

Hypothetically speaking....
#HypotheticalObservationsForTheGoodOfTodaysWorld

Let's just say you are driving slowly down an icy road and you come upon an older gentleman
 {who speaks broken English and is driving a vehicle with a Florida licence plate and balled tires}
{you can't really know that by driving by, but that's beside the point}
and two kind {and may I add still attractive} ladies trying to push this Floridian out of a winter-y Michigan mess, please stop to help them. Especially if you are a gentleman, weigh more than one-hundred and thirty pounds and are genetically created to have the power to push a mid-sized vehicle out of the snow.

 I am certain, in this hypothetical situation, the freezing cold ladies would rejoice, and the kind older gentleman from Florida would be beyond grateful.

And, the bonus of stopping, in this hypothetical situation, is that you could meet a new friend who may possibly be named Sara, laugh with this new friend about watching this video in heaven someday, and you could  be one of the first Michiganders to welcome a lovely Floridian to Michigan for vacation.
{Future PSA: Do not come to Michigan in January for a vacation}

A note to my children: Gibson, Elliott and Finley {Finley, do not stop in a dark, desolate area alone} always stop when you see someone may need help.  Most often they will not, but you stopping will show people that love wins and kindness matters.

Why?

Yesterday, as I was in the middle of a paper chase for the next leg of bringing Finley home, I was taken aback by this sign.  I was in the lobby of Bethany Christian Services, waiting to drop off newly notarized documents, when it caught my attention.

Why?

They answer they had listed was one of our why(s), so I instagramed it and moved on with my paper chasing, rolling the question around and around in my head searching for more why(s).

Fast forward twenty-four hours, to a Christian Reformed church where Steve and I sat side by side in a pew listening the wife of his thirty-eight year old cousin speak at her husband's funeral. In her quiet strength, she encouraged everyone to ask, Why?

Why do you do the things you do?

Through my tears, I was floored by God asking this question for the second day in a row.

So, on this sunny, November afternoon, I am deep in thought as to why?  Challenging my choices and seeking God in my answers.

What are your why(s)?

Summer Salsa

Cooking has never been my forte.  I have learned over time that it is most often a set up for disappointment.

So many ingredients.  So many variables. So many messes, and in the end I have at least one child that doesn't like it, and it never tastes as good as if someone else has made it.

However, every now and then I surprise myself and find a recipe that is a no fail recipe.  A recipe that turns out great each time I make it and for one small moment makes me feel like a younger version of Paula Deen.

As of late my favorite recipe is my cousin's Summer Salsa.  It's fresh.  It's easy. It's a winner every time.

Ingredients:
1 cantaloupe
1 yellow pepper
1 orange pepper
1 bunch of cilantro
1 16 oz. can crushed pineapple with juice
1 chopped red onion
2 jalapeno peppers {seeded}*
1 lime juiced

Directions:

1. Chop ingredients
2. Add pineapple with juice
3. Top with juice of lime
4. Enjoy!

*Public Service Announcement: Never...ever...touch the seeds of a jalepeno'  If touched they will cause intense burning of human skin for hours after incident.
